Background

Roosevelt “Choy” Espenilla, PT, DPT, is a Florida-licensed Physical Therapist with more than 20 years of experience in outpatient rehabilitation. He joined the Total MD family in 2007 after relocating from Tampa, Florida, where he worked for a national rehabilitation company. His previous experience includes working with professional football and hockey teams, as well as collegiate and high school athletes recovering from orthopedic and sports-related injuries.

Dr. Espenilla earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Perpetual Help in the Philippines and later completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. In addition, he pursued postgraduate studies in Business Administration at Troy State University in Alabama. He has also been featured in newspaper articles promoting the physical therapy profession, encouraging regular exercise, and advocating for a healthy lifestyle.

Known to his patients as “Dr. Choy,” he specializes in evaluating musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and developing individualized treatment plans to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes. He is highly skilled in a variety of conservative treatment techniques, including manual therapy, heat and cold therapy, electrotherapeutic modalities, and therapeutic exercise programs tailored to each patient’s specific needs.
